Telford & Douglass's Design of a Cast Iron Bridge of a Single Arch proposed to be erected across the River Thames from near St. Saviour's Church and in a Line with the Royal Exchange as shewn in their General Plan Plate IX. Span of the Arch 600 feet. 1800 Jul. [Scale 1" : 12'. On a roll with a second copy (inv. no. 1987-624) and another item. Ordered to be printed 28 Jul 1800. Engraved (by William Lowry) for the Appendix to the Third Report of the Select Committee of the House of Commons upon the Improvement of the Port of London. Plate XXIV/5. [Letter] 1827 Jun 8, London [to] Mr Townshend, Canal Contractor, Birmingham / Tho[ma]s Telford. [Referring to costings and monthly statement from Townshend and querying amount asked for. As the first contracts are nearing completion, Telford will visit Birmingham and look over the accounts. The letter probably refers to the reconstruction of the Birmingham Canal undertaken by Telford 1824-1834]
